What does Tofugu mean?
Tofugu is the Japanese teacher we never had We are building tools and writing about the Japanese language for our past-selves: people who were (and still are) excited about learning. Almost everybody at Tofugu has taken a Japanese (or English, or French, or whatever) class or had tutors.
Does WaniKani have all Joyo Kanji?
When you finish WaniKani, you’ll have learned over 2,000 kanji and over 6,000 Japanese vocabulary words. The kanji you learn includes most of the Joyo kanji, but not all of them.

Tofugu was a standout. The writing is compelling, the people that work there are smart and friendly, and everyone seems to truly care about the important contribution they are making to people studying Japanese. Tofugu eventually released two original learning resources.

If you know it it, then YES. It is worth it! I purchased it and I am so glad I did. It is going to take me a really long time to complete WaniKani, so it was definitely cheaper to do the Lifetime for me.

The core review system that WaniKani uses isn’t bad. In fact, it’s actually very good, and will help most people fulfil their language learning goals. However, the problem I have with it is that even a single day away from the app can leave you with a mountain of reviews to complete.

WaniKani is not a Japanese course. It’s a kanji learning app that also teaches vocab. If you get to lvl 60 you shouldn’t have any issues with kanji even at JLPT N1. But everything else (grammar, reading, listening) will be a huge problem.
